TREIC Reviews New Relationship Termination Form, Recommends a Rule Change for Proposal
11/03/2022The Texas Real Estate Inspector Committee (TREIC) met October 18 and reviewed a new tool to aid in filling out the Property Inspection Report Form, a new form that will inform TREC when a real estate inspector relationship is terminated, and items for the 88th Texas Legislature.

Broker-Lawyer Committee Recommends Commission Adopt Revised Forms
10/31/2022The Texas Real Estate Broker-Lawyer Committee (BLC) met October 14 to discuss public comments on proposed form changes from the August TREC Meeting. After reviewing 123 public comments, the committee made some non-substantive changes and recommended the forms be adopted at the November 7 TREC Meeting.

10/13/2022In August, the Texas Real Estate Commission proposed changes to several TREC forms based on recommendations by the Texas Real Estate Broker-Lawyer Committee (BLC). TREC received 123 public comments about the changes, which BLC will review and consider during its upcoming meeting on Friday, October 14.

New Online Services Available for ERW Agents and Brokers
09/15/2022The Texas Real Estate Commission has launched new enhancements to the online services portal to make it easier for easement or right-of-way agents and brokers to submit certain applications.

TREC Now Accepting ERW Courses
09/06/2022The 87th Texas Legislature enacted HB 2730 effective January 1, 2023, requiring easement or right-of-way agents to complete 16 hours of TREC-approved qualifying education prior to registration, and 16 hours of TREC-approved continuing education (CE) for each two-year registration term.

Do You Really Have to Provide a Flood Disclosure for Temporary Residential Leases?
08/26/2022Yes. A bill passed during the 87th Texas Legislative Session does not generally exempt landlords of temporary residential leases from providing a disclosure notice about whether the landlord is aware that the dwelling is located in a 100‐year floodplain or that the dwelling has flooded within the last five years.

05/11/2018The Inspector Committee has had a busy couple of months since it last met in February. On March 26th, the Inspector Consumer Issues Working Group met to review issues regarding inspector financial responsibility and insurance requirements and to also make recommendations for the Committee to consider. In addition to the Inspector Committee members, the Working Group included Paul Roebuck representing TPREIA and Mike Hammel representing TAREI.

Broker Responsibility Working Group Appointments Announced
03/15/2018The Texas Real Estate Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of members to the Broker Responsibility Working Group (BRWG). The BRWG reviews experience requirements and role responsibilities for brokers and makes recommendations to the Commission based on its findings. Members will meet four or five times in the next 10 months to complete the charge given to them by the Commission.

Commission Appoints Six to Education Standards Advisory Committee
11/30/2017AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Real Estate Commission is pleased to announce the recent appointments of six new committee members to the Education Standards Advisory Committee. Sarah Norman of Bryan, Jason Woodward of Amarillo, Felicia Peters of Grandbury, Scott Kesner of El Paso, Rob Cook of Houston, and public member Marcela Gomez of Austin have been appointed as members, with terms set to expire in 2019.

TREC Announces Extension For All License Holders Affected By Hurricane Harvey
10/31/2017In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the Texas Real Estate Commission and the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (the Agency) extended all deadlines for two months for all license holders and applicants statewide with license expiration or application deadlines in August and September. This extension ended on October 31, 2017.

New Commission Appointments Announced
10/02/2017AUSTIN, TX - Governor Abbott has appointed three new members to the Texas Real Estate Commission; broker members, Jan Fite Miller and DeLora Wilkinson and a public member Micheal Williams with terms set to expire January 31, 2023. These new members will join the Commission for its next regular quarterly meeting in Austin on November 13, 2017.

08/25/2017Due to Hurricane Harvey, our testing provider, Pearson Vue, will be closing some of the sites in Texas over the next few days. Site closures keep coming in, and they are reaching out to all candidates via email to let them know that their appointment will need to be rescheduled.
