Choosing the Right Delivery Method

Classroom course delivery is where the instructor and students interact face to face and in real-time, either in the same physical location or through the use of technology.  By TREC standards, many synchronous courses may be considered classroom courses.  Most traditional on-site classroom courses have transitioned due to the pandemic and are now being offered virtually, although still live, interactive, and face to face.  Providers seeking approval to offer a course in this manner should choose classroom delivery when preparing an application.

Distance education may also be referred to as asynchronous learning and takes place according to the schedule and pace of the student.  Distance education may take place online or through correspondence and does not require a student to be virtually present at the same time as the instructor or other students.  However, timely feedback from an instructor is required.

Calculating Course Fees Correctly

CE course applications require a base fee of $50.00 for each course submitted.  There is an additional charge of $5.00 per credit hour for course content review.  The remainder of the required fee is dependent upon the course delivery method.  Classroom courses require $5.00 per credit hour.  Distance education courses require $10.00 per credit hour.  If the course is offered through both classroom and distance education, both fees apply.

Example #1

I have a two-hour course offered through classroom delivery.  What is the required fee?

Base Fee - $50.00

Content Review - $10.00 ($5.00 x 2 hours)

Classroom Delivery Fee - $10.00 ($5.00 x 2 hours)

Total Due - $70.00

Example #2
