The TREC Education & Examinations Division will launch the next phase of the education provider audit program in January of 2021. TREC rule §535.67(a) gives staff the authority to conduct on-site audits without prior notice as well as enroll in and attend courses without identifying themselves as employees of the Commission.
In January, TREC staff will begin performing audits of the administrative functions of qualifying education (QE) providers and QE courses offered through distance education. QE classroom and combination (classroom & distance education) delivery course audits will follow as pandemic related constraints diminish. Continuing education (CE) provider and course audits will begin later next year.
TREC staff have developed a schedule for administrative and course audits. Providers scheduled for an administrative audit can expect to be contacted by TREC staff and provided with detailed instructions along with a copy of an Administrative Audit form. As always, the point of contact for an education provider is the Operations Manager (OM) identified in TREC records. If there has been a recent change in your designated OM, please contact an education specialist for instructions to update your records.
The education provider audit is an effort to ensure continued compliance with TREC rules and support the agency’s work to protect the public through education and regulation.
