The Texas Real Estate Inspector Committee met January 18, 2022. Three new officers were elected to serve in committee leadership:

  • Shawn Emerick, chair
  • Scott Regan, vice chair
  • Steven Rhinehart, secretary

The committee also made two subcommittee appointments:

  • Lee Warren, Education
  • Scott Regan, Standards of Practice

Texas Real Estate Commission staff provided an update on the Texas Real Estate Inspector Standards of Practice: Pocket Edition which is now available to order.

TREC staff also shared draft updates to experience logs for inspectors to make them easier to complete, so the application process to apply for licensure or become a sponsoring inspector smoother. The draft will be considered for approval during the February 14, 2022, TREC Commission Meeting.

The committee also discussed report delivery by an inspector. Inspectors are required to deliver a report within two days after receiving payment for the inspection. The committee is looking to clarify the rule to address those times when an inspector is prepaid for an inspection that is scheduled outside of the two-day window.
