The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) is pleased to announce that Governor Abbott has named Scott Kesner of El Paso as Chair of the Commission.  On April 24th Mr. Kesner was confirmed by the Senate to serve on the Commission and his appointment as the Chair is effective April 25, 2019 and expires at the pleasure of the Governor. Mr. Kesner is the broker and owner of Century 21 The Edge with offices in El Paso, Midland and Snyder. He served as Chair of the Texas Association of REALTORS® in 2015.  Read more about his qualifications and accomplishments here.

Kesner succeeds Avis Wukasch, who has served on the Texas Real Estate Commission since 2008 and was named as Chair in 2011. Under her leadership,  the Commission transitioned to self-directed semi-independent status, strengthened the requirements to become a broker in Texas, expanded real estate education for all license holders, improved standard contract forms for buyers and sellers, and completed a comprehensive review of the agency’s rules; all resulting in improved effectiveness.  Former Chair Wukasch will be recognized at the May 6 TREC meeting in Austin.

The Commission Chair plays a key role in protecting consumers of real estate related services in Texas.
