Start Your Real Estate License Application

Get Your REALM Portal Information

If you do not have a TREC license number: Create a Real Estate and Appraiser License Management (REALM) Portal account to receive a pre-license education application number by email. Provide this number to your TREC-approved qualifying education (QE) provider when you enroll in your courses.

If you already have a TREC license number: Provide your TREC license number to your TREC-approved QE provider. You do not need to create another REALM Portal account to obtain a pre-license education application number.

A pre-license education application number is not the same as a license application. Do not submit your license application until you have completed all required pre-licensing education.

Follow the instructions to set up your REALM Portal account.

Tips for Success

  • Have your documentation ready. Review the requirements for your specific license type and have all required documentation available when you apply.
  • Upload your documents when you apply. Upload all required education completion documents and other supporting documentation with your application.
  • Do not submit your application before completing your pre-licensing education. Once an application is submitted you cannot make changes to it.
  • Understand the application timeline. Allow up to four weeks for TREC to review your application and determine whether you are eligible for an exam authorization. Additional information may be required during the review process.

How To Submit an Application

After you have completed your required pre-licensing education:

  1. Log in to your REALM Portal account.
  2. Select Create an Application > TREC Licenses > select the application for your license type.
  3. Follow the prompts to complete your application.
  4. Upload your required documentation.
  5. Review your application and submit it.

Do not submit your license application until you have completed all required pre-licensing education. You will not be able to make changes to your application after it is submitted.

How To Check Your Application Status

You can check your application status at any time in the REALM Portal:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Go to Home > My Records.
  3. Select the blue link for your application.

Under Processing Status, you will see a list of items required for licensure:

  • Green checkmark means the item is complete and cleared.
  • Hourglass means TREC is still processing the item or waiting to receive information (such as exam results or fingerprint records).
