Residential Property Management Course Outline Recommended for Proposal

The Broker Responsibility Working Group (BRWG) recommended that ESAC open the Property Management qualifying course outline for review. TREC staff presented a draft course approval form to the committee during the meeting based on the committee’s recommendations. ESAC approved the changes, including changing the course name to Residential Property Management Course, and recommended the Commission propose the revised course outline at its February 13 meeting.

Recommendation to Require Qualifying Real Estate Brokerage Course in SAE Hours

The committee at its last meeting discussed making the 30-hour Real Estate Brokerage course a mandatory course as part of the SAE requirement and agreed it would be beneficial for sales agents and ultimately consumers. TREC staff presented a draft an amendment to 535.55, Education and Sponsorship Requirements for Sales Agent License, to address this. The committee approved the draft amendment and recommended the Commission propose it at its February 13 meeting.

What Happens Next?

After proposed by the Commission, a public comment period will open, and you will be able to submit feedback to TREC about the proposed changes to the property management course outline and the 30-hour Real Estate Brokerage course requirement for SAE.
