During the August 2023 TREC Meeting, the Commission adopted TREC Rule 535.46, Broker Responsibility Advisory Committee, establishing a new committee to advise the Commission on issues relating to broker responsibility. The Commission is seeking to appoint nine members to begin service on January 1, 2024.

Like other Commission advisory committees, BRAC could make recommendations for rule changes or legislative changes associated with broker responsibility that affect the real estate industry and consumers.

Members must:

  • Hold an active real estate broker license issued by the Commission
  • Have been engaged in the practice of brokerage activity for at least five years prior to appointment and be actively engaged in that practice.

Members of the committee serve staggered four-year terms with terms beginning on January 1.

  • Three members will serve a two-year term to expire on December 31, 2026
  • Three members to serve a three-year term to expire on December 31, 2027
  • Three members to serve a four-year term to expire on December 31, 2028

If you are interested in serving on this new committee, apply by August 29, 2023. You will need to fully complete the application and upload a cover letter and your resume. Potential members may also be asked for an interview before selections are made. Appointments will be announced at the November 6 TREC Meeting in Austin.
