Legal Update I, II Instructor Training: Now Open for Registration!
Submitted by Sierra Pizarro on Wed, 2025-08-06 16:02Registration is now open for the Texas Real Estate Commission's (TREC) upcoming Legal Update I and II Instructor Training sessions. These in-person trainings are designed for instructors planning to offer the 2026–2027 Legal Update I and II courses—and they're headed to cities across Texas!
This training is essential for any instructor who wants to remain eligible to teach these statutorily mandated courses. Only those who have successfully completed the updated training will be qualified to deliver Legal Update I and II content to TREC license holders.

Meet TREC’s New Chair and Two Broker Members

Governor Greg Abbott appointed Mark Woodroof (pictured left) as chair. He also appointed J.B. Goodwin and Kristi Davis to the Commission with terms set to expire January 31, 2031. They were later confirmed by the Texas Senate.

Woodroof, who has served on the Commission as a broker member since 2021, was appointed on May 6, 2025, to serve as chair.

The San Antonio Roundup: Commissioners Send-off, Comment on Proposed Rules

This also marks the Commission’s third out-of-Austin meeting: Traveling to “meet people where they are” is an effort started by TREC Chair R. Scott Kesner in 2023.

Going Online
Later this year, the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) is rolling out a new licensing system that will allow TREC-approved education providers to submit course and provider applications online. This also means all documentation typically required with those applications will be submitted through the new online format.
