Scam Alert! Make Sure You Know If A Message Is From Us

UPDATE: Due to a recent resurgence of SPAM messages being sent out to our license holders, we wanted to remind you of these tips to help keep your information secure!

Scammers or Spammers sometimes try to copy and email and text from messages from TREC or TALCB to trick you into providing personal information. We know this can be confusing and frustrating, and we want to help make sure you don't fall victim to these schemes.

TREC Planning Tour Going Virtual 

The Texas Real Estate Commission is pleased to announce the 2020 virtual planning tour. Due to travel restrictions related to the Coronavirus, TREC moved the tour online. Join TREC Chair, Scott Kesner, and TREC Executive Director Chelsea Buchholtz as they discuss the future of the agency. In a rapidly changing market, the agency needs to hear from license holders about what issues matter most to them.  

Announcing The Application Status Tracker

The Texas Real Estate Commission is pleased to announce the launch of our new application status tracker.

This new tool is an easy way for anyone to track the status of initial applications, reducing delays and confusion about what comes next. This, along with our name management tool, are prime examples of TREC’s focus on improved customer service and efficiency.

For now, this new tool is only available to track the progress of initial Real Estate Sales Agent applications. We will be adding other applications to this tracker in the coming months. 

An Update on Customer Service From Tony Slagle, Deputy Executive Director

When I was named the Deputy Executive Director of TREC and the Deputy Commissioner of TALCB in August of this year, part of my expanded role at the agency was to focus on the agency operations, particularly the frontline customer service aspects of licensing and call center performance. I am happy to report that over the last several months, due to the implementation of technological improvements, additional staff, and the hard work of existing staff, there has been a marked improvement in the overall performance of both.

The agency has had quite a busy summer and the fall continues to bring a steady stream of challenges.  As we continue working through all the issues which arise, especially through the Sunset process, know that we remain fully committed to exploring every effective option available to improve this agency’s performance.  First and foremost, our mission has not changed and our dedication to accomplish it in the most effective, efficient and transparent manner is shared by our policymakers and our staff team. 

Make Sure Paragraph 21 is Filled Out

The One to Four Family Residential Contract (Resale), like many contracts, contains a “Notices” provision. In that TREC contract, the provision is in Paragraph 21. This needs to be filled out so the parties know where a notice should be sent or delivered to be effective. A license holder should remind their client how important this provision is and ensure, to the extent possible, that it gets filled out fully and accurately.
