It’s Just the Beginning: TREC Awarded for Course Design Overhaul

With the notion of keeping everything under one roof, Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) staff took on a new part of the development of the 2024-2025 Legal Update I & II courses. Thanks to the skills and talent of TREC Director of Government and Strategic Communications Summer Mandell, this book was wholly produced in-house, to include the design of the course materials.

Coming July 15: Update to Posting CE, SAE Course Credit

In an effort to ensure accuracy and the timeliness of posting course credit, TREC is updating the Posting System and all forms of course credit reporting to require the license holder’s last name. The last name and license number must match those stored in our database for credit to be awarded.

Many of your students may go by a nickname or use a middle name rather than a first name. For reporting purposes, it is important that your students know ahead of time that they should register for their courses with the name as it appears on their TREC license.

ESAC Recap: Principles I & II Updates, Law of Agency Course Review

The Texas Real Estate Commission’s Education Standards Advisory Committee (ESAC) met virtually on April 1. Discussion opened with the Principles of Real Estate I and II courses—ESAC is moving forward with a recommendation to revise their course approval forms.

The Committee then reviewed changes to the Law of Agency course approval form which were made based on recommendations from ESAC’s last meeting.

ESAC’s First Meeting of Year: New Members, Principles I & II Recommendation

The Texas Real Estate Commission’s Education Standards Advisory Committee (ESAC) opened its first meeting of the year with a welcome to four new members. The new license holder members are Amanda Nichols and Thomas Carl Leatherman. The new education provider member is Cynthia Baas. The new public member is Rita Blevins.

ESAC held elections and selected Bill Steddum, Jr. as chair, Byron Underwood as vice chair, and Michael Crowley as secretary.

ESAC Talks Principles I and II Course Content

The TREC Education Standards Advisory Committee (ESAC) met October 2 and discussed draft revisions to the Principles I and II course content. ESAC also discussed combining the Principles I and II courses into a single 60-hour Principles course and making this course a pre-requisite for the four additional pre-licensing courses. The committee asked staff to look into the feasibility of their recommendations and will continue discussion at the January 8, 2024 meeting.

Education Standards Advisory Committee Accepting Applications for Members to Serve in 2024

The Texas Real Estate Commission's Education Standards Advisory Committee (ESAC) is accepting applications to fill two education member positions by real estate instructors or owners of real estate schools, accredited by the Commission, that provide qualifying or continuing education.
