The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) is pleased to announce that the Texas real estate sales agent, broker, and inspector licensure exams are now conveniently available at over 200 Pearson VUE test centers as well as on military installations across the globe for service members, spouses, dependents, and contractors with authorized base access.

From Open Houses to Oversight: BRAC Opens 2026 With Key Brokerage Discussions

The Texas Real Estate Commission’s Broker Responsibility Advisory Committee (BRAC) held its first meeting of the year on January 21, 2026, to elect officers and begin discussions on several issues affecting brokerage practices, including transaction coordination, showing services, and designated brokers.

Election of Officers

The committee began by electing officers for the year. Ty Williams was reelected presiding officer (chair), Brian Sales was reelected assistant presiding officer (vice-chair), and Marion Napoleon was reelected secretary.

Contract Form Updates by Broker-Lawyer Committee

The Texas Real Estate Commission’s (TREC) Broker-Lawyer Committee (BLC) met January 8–9, 2026, to continue its comprehensive review of the TREC contract forms. Here are some of the highlights.

Changes to Paragraph 12

BLC continued its discussion of broker compensation and recommended revisions to Paragraph 12. The revisions would reorganize Paragraph 12A(1) and add a new Paragraph 12B related to brokerage compensation. The committee also recommended Paragraph 8B be removed.
