The Texas Real Commission is accepting applications for appointment for two inspectors and one public member positions of the Texas Real Estate Inspector Committee.

The Texas Real Estate Inspector Committee is an advisory committee whose purpose is to make recommendations regarding inspection-related matters to the Commission to ensure a high degree of service to and protection of the public.  The committee consists of six professional inspectors and three public members.  Inspector members serve staggered six-year terms and must hold a professional real estate inspector license. Public members serve staggered two-year terms and cannot hold an active occupational license or otherwise be employed in the real estate field.  Additional considerations include geographic dispersity and prior committee service.

The committee is permitted to meet by teleconference, although it is anticipated that some travel to Austin will be necessary.  Limited funds may be available for travel reimbursement.  All committee meetings must comply with the Open Meetings Act.

Those wishing to be considered for appointment to the committee should send their application, resume, and cover letter to Vanessa Burgess, TREC General Counsel, at general.counsel@trec.texas.gov or by mail to Texas Real Estate Commission, Attn. Vanessa Burgess, PO Box 12188 Austin, TX 78711-2188. To be considered for appointment, applications must be received no later than September 21, 2020, by 5:00 pm.
