Provider Exam Passage Rates for Sales Agents and Brokers
TREC is required by law to set a passage rate benchmark that all approved qualifying education providers must meet to continue to offer qualifying courses for credit. Individuals trying to determine where to take courses to meet TREC education requirements may use the chart below.
The chart is calculated on a monthly basis and provides the overall average first-time passage rate (OPR) for all students who have taken the licensing exam to become a broker, sales agent, or inspector. Students are affiliated with the provider from whom they took the majority of their qualifying courses within the two-year period prior to taking the licensing exam.
Education providers are approved for four years and must apply for subsequent approval to offer courses for each additional four-year period. When a provider seeks subsequent approval, the Commission will review their exam passage rate ranking for each license category.
Providers are ranked as follows:
In Good Standing
First-time passage rate of at least 80% of the OPR for that license category.
Subject to Probation
First-time passage rate between 50% and 79% of the OPR for that license category. A provider whose ranking is "Subject to Probation" for a particular license category when filing an application for subsequent approval will be placed on probation for that license type and reviewed at the time the provider's annual operating fee is due. If the provider is "In Good Standing" at the time of its annual review it will be removed from probation. A provider ranked "Subject to Probation" at the time of its annual review will remain on probation.
Subject to Disapproval or Revocation
First-time passage rate below 50% of the OPR for that license category. A provider whose ranking is subject to disapproval or revocation when filing an application for subsequent approval will be disapproved to offer courses for that license category. A provider who is ranked "Subject to Disapproval or Revocation" at the time of its annual review will have its license revoked for that license category.
