Become a Real Estate and Inspector CE Elective Course Instructor

CE course instructors are approved to teach approved CE courses. These courses are provided by an approved CE provider.

  1. File the Instructor Application-CE Elective Course or if you would like to teach Inspector CE courses file the Instructor Application-ICE Elective Courses
  2. Pay the required fee

Once Approved

You will be required to maintain a copy of the instructor approval letter issued by TREC and provide a copy of the letter to any education providers for whom you will be teaching. You must also teach each CE course in substantially the same manner as was represented to the Commission upon approval of the course.

Become a Real Estate CE Non-Elective Course Instructor Real estate CE non-elective course instructors as approved to teach Legal Update I & II and the Broker Responsibility course. These courses are provided by an approved CE provider who is approved to offer non-elective CE courses.

Qualifications

  • Instructors of Legal Update I & II must be approved to teach Principles of Real Estate, Law of Agency and Law of Contracts. 
  • Instructors of the Broker Responsibility course must be approved to teach Principles of Real Estate, Law of Agency, Law of Contracts and Real Estate Brokerage.
  •  Instructors of the Legal Update I & II and the Broker Responsibility course must also obtain certification to teach these course by completing the instructor training program offered by the Texas A & M Real Estate Research Center.

Become a Real Estate CE Non-Elective Instructor

  1. Meet the qualifications list above
  2. File the completed application and send it to TREC
  3. Pay the required fee 

 You will not be eligible to teach the CE non-elective courses until written notice of approval is received from TREC.

Become an Inspector CE Non-Elective Course Instructor)

Inspector CE non-elective course instructors are approved to Texas Standards of Practice and the Ride Along Instructor course. These courses are provided by an approved CE provider who is approved to offer non-elective CE courses.

Qualifications

  • an applicant must have five years of active licensure as a Texas as a professional inspector
  • performed a minimum of 200 real estate inspections as a Texas professional inspector; or
  • three years of experience in teaching and/or sponsoring trainees or inspectors.
