Job Summary:

Texas Real Estate Commission/Texas Appraiser and Licensing Certification Board is seeking an accounting professional who shares our values of excellence, teamwork, and customer service. Performs basic and routine accounting work. Creates daily batches of checks and money orders received, accurately records and posts daily deposit, updates records and mails correspondence working in a team environment.

Minimum Education:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Experience:
  • Two years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping or related
  • Experience corresponding with external parties
  • Experience with processing leave accounting and/or payroll for a state of Texas agency
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems.
  • Skill in writing correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and work productively with others
  • Skill in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
Job Duties:
  • Performs cashier tasks accurately and in compliance with state laws
  • Processes payments per internal licensing and enforcement requirements
  • Processes rejected checks and insufficient funds (NSF) checks timely
  • Corresponds with external customers timely
  • Conducts an annual inventory of equipment and property.
  • Assisting division with transition to paperless
  • Other duties as assigned

Environmental & Physical Conditions:  Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer.
