MCE Exemption Information
The MCE exemption applies for brokers who qualified and met specific criteria in October 1991. While there are still brokers who remain exempt from MCE (see section below excerpted from the Real Estate License Act), the ability to obtain this exemption is no longer available.
Sec. 1101.456. EXEMPTION FROM CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR
CERTAIN BROKERS. Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, a broker who, before October 31, 1991, qualified under former Section 7A(f), The Real Estate License Act (Article 6573a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), as added by Section 1.041, Chapter 553, Acts of the 72nd Legislature, Regular Session, 1991, for an exemption from continuing education requirements is not required to comply with the mandatory continuing education requirements of this subchapter to renew the broker's license.
